Mandy Salter's mum set to make a return to Walford in 'Eastenders'; 'Bad Girls' actress to take over the role!

BBC bosses have confirmed that Mandy Salter's (Nicola Stapleton's) mother Lorraine is set to make a return to the BBC1 soap. The character who was previously portrayed by Linda Wicks who now stars in the show in the regular role of Shirley Carter will make a return next month after she receives a text message from troublesome teenager Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater). Lorraine, mother to Mandy who made a return to the show last year will come back to Walford following Lucy's suspicions that Mandy is having an affair.

Lucy, the daughter of Mandy's current squeeze Ian Beale (Adam Woodyat) gets suspicious in upcoming episodes when she spots Mandy pawning a bracelet  that Ian bought for her and receiving secret texts behind Ian's back. Wanting to unravel the mystery, she steals Mandy's phone and sends a text arranging a meeting in  Albert Square with the 'mystery man'. To her shock, the anonymous texter isn't a man, it's actually Mandy's mother Lorraine who previously appeared in the soap in 1991 and 1992.

Lorraine is set to be played by former Bad Girls actress Victoria Alcock. The actress said: ''I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast ofEastEnders and am looking forward to working with my good friends Linda Henry and Nicola Stapleton again. I can't wait to see people's reaction when Lorraine arrives on the Square!"
