Lucy Beale to return to 'Eastenders' in The New Year played by a different actress

Take a little look at the picture to your left, it's of course of troubled wildchild Lucy Beale who was last seen on BBC1 soap Eastenders last year. However, the partying tearaway teenager is set to make a return to the show next year to annoy surely delight her long-suffering father Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt). However, Lucy is set to be played by a new actress Hetti Bywater who will take over from Melissa Suffield who was last seen portraying Lucy in August 2010.

And time won't have mellowed Lucy one bit as she's set to cause even more trouble for her father when she wings her way back to Walford. Lucy has been living in Devon for the past year however she's set to make a return to Walford early next year when she hears some sad news from Albert Square. And true to form,. Lucy isn't going to be too impressed with Ian's way of living as she immediately clashes with his new partner, minxy Mandy Salter (Nicola Stapleton).

However, given that Mandy was notorious as the wildchild of the 90's, could she join forces with rebelli0us Lucy as she reflects back to her teenage years? Speaking about her new role, actress Bywater said: ''I'm really excited to be joining such an iconic show as EastEnders, especially becoming part of the Beale household. I'm looking forward to finding out what's in store for Lucy and seeing what she's going to get up to when she returns to Walford."

Melissa Suffield was axed from the show in 2010 due to off-screen behaviour that was deemed unacceptable. Lucy will return played by the new actress whose credits include roles in Doctors and Casualty in January 2012.
