Former 'Coronation Street' star Gaynor Faye joins the cast of 'Emmerdale'!

Former Coronation Street star Gaynor Faye is set to join the cast of other ITV1 soap Emmerdale as the half-sister of businessman Declan Macey (Jason Merrells) early next year. The actress best known for her role as Judy Mallett on the popular TV show during the 90's will play glamorous Megan Macey on the ITV soap.

Megan will set the cat amongst the pigeons when she comes to stay with Declan and ''fiercely ambitious, intimidating and oozing self-confidence'', she's set to clash with Declan's current girlfriend Katie (Sammy Winward) as she settles into life in Hotten after Declan contacts her to ask her to join him in a business venture.

However, with Declan's chequered past with other relatives, it's unclear whether the duo will team up or be at odds with each other. Faye commented: '' I'm incredibly excited to be joining Emmerdale and being a Yorkshire lass myself, filming in Leeds, my home town, is the icing on the cake!''

She added: ''The women on Emmerdale are strong and feisty and I can't wait to play my character, who's fun but extremely driven and will stop at nothing to get her own way! She's quite different to many of the roles that I have played before and hopefully will take people by surprise. Here's to the New Year when I take my first tipple in The Woolpack!"

Executive producer for the soap, Stuart Blackburn said: ''I'm thrilled to welcome Gaynor to the show. This is an exciting new character for us and a new era at Home Farm. Megan will quickly remind Declan she has a shrewd ability to get what she wants, when she wants it."
