Eastenders star Cheryl Fergison is set to leave the BBC1 soap at the start of next year after her character Heather Trott leaves Albert Square. The unlucky in love character who has been in the show since June 2007 will depart screens at the start of 2012 in 'dramatic scenes'.
According to The Mirror, Fergison who plays Heather will leave at the end of her current contract with show bosses promising that her exit will be a 'fitting ending' for the character. It's unknown if Heather will be killed off or if the door will be left open for the character to make a return in the future.
A source for the show told the newspaper: ''We can confirm Cheryl Fergison will be leaving EastEnders when her contract comes to its natural conclusion next year. Heather's character has been hugely popular over the years, but the decision has been taken to cut her out of the show before viewers tire of her.''
The insider added: ''Cheryl will leave when her contract comes to an end, but it's set to be a dramatic exit which will see the character go out with a real bang."
