Eastenders character Pat Evans will be killed off later this year in an emotional and surprising storyline, it has been revealed. The beloved character, played by Pam St. Clement is set to leave around Christmas after actress Pam announced her departure from the show in July.
According to the Daily Star Sunday, Pat will be killed off in ''emotional scenes'' due to air this Christmas to coincide with the return of Pat's step-daughter-in-law Bianca Butcher (Patsy Palmer) who is set to be released from prison in time for Christmas after serving time for attacking bad boy Connor Stanley (Arinze Kene).
Whilst the exact cause of death is unconfirmed, it is thought that Pat will pass away whilst Bianca and husband Ricky (Sid Owen) who is Pat's step-son return to the Square. Speaking to the paper, a show insider said: ''Pat is one of the soap's biggest-ever characters, and after much deliberation over her exit it was decided she will be killed off.''
They added: ''Her exit will be one of the most emotional we've ever done. She'll enjoy one last Christmas with her family all around her before she goes. Everyone has been sworn to secrecy over the exact details of her death but it will be sudden and heartbreaking.''
''Her family will be left devastated by their loss and we're certain it will pull at the heart strings of even the most hardened of EastEnders fans. It's going to go down in history and will be one that the soap world will never ever forget."
As usual, an Eastenders spokesperson has declined to comment on whether the report is true instead stating: ''There has been a lot of speculation about Pat's departure. However we are not going to comment as we do not want to spoil it for the viewers." Pam will film her final scenes shortly and Pat's final scenes are expected to air out over Christmas.
