Carla Connor set to crash her car into Peter Barlow's betting shop on ITV1 soap 'Coronation Street'

Carla Connor will accidentally crash her car into the bookies in a forthcoming storyline, it has been reported. The businesswoman who has been seen turning to alcohol in the past few weeks after the death of her mother will crash into the betting shop owned by Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) after she loses control of her car.

It is reported that the accident is fuelled by drink and according to The Sun, Carla's crash is to be seen as a cry for help. A source told the paper: ''Carla's drinking is out of control again. It's a cry for help - and for love.'' The news comes after producer for the ITV1 soap Phil Collinson revealed that Carla will get involved with  former alcoholic Peter again after he supports her as she relapses in her battle against the booze.

Speaking at the time, Collinson said: ''I have to say, it's one of the biggest stories that we've told on Corrie for many years. She's going to have a pretty rough time across the autumn.'' Scenes set to be aired later this year see Carla turn to her business partner Frank Foster (Andrew Lancel) after the pair share a kiss but things soon turn nasty as a week of special 9pm episodes are set to air later this year which will see Carla fighting for her life after she is physically and sexually assualted by jealous Frank who accuses her of having an affair with Peter.

The special episodes will air later this summer and are expected to air after Ant and Dec's new gameshow Red Or Black.
