An average audience of 7.2 million tuned in for the first instalment before 7.5 million returned for the second. A peak audience of 8.1 million viewers was recorded.
Corrie was the most watched show of the day and easily bettered the other soaps. Emmerdale did 5.5 million earlier on ITV while EastEnders had 5.2 million on BBC One.
Also on BBC One, Oscar winning short film The Silent Child achieve 3.6 million for its debut TV showing. Room 101 interested just 2.3 million while MasterChef's latest episode had 3.8 million.
An average audience of 2.9 million tuned in for the sixth episode of the new series, up 600,000 viewers week-on-week.
After, new comedy Lee and Dean debuted to a million viewers at 10PM.
