A former Home And Away actor has been cast as a love interest for openly gay Chris Pappas (James Mason) in C5 soap Neighbours. Bob Morley who played Drew Curtis on the Australian soap will play male nurse Aiden Foster in the show set in a fictional town in Melbourne.
Speaking about his new role, Morley said that it made no difference to him whether his character was gay or straight. Speaking to The Herald Sun, he said: ''I don't see it as a big deal that the character is gay. It certainly doesn't define him and what the writers have planned is really interesting and authentic."
Bob's contract with the show is a six month contract with a distinct possibility of extension. Producer for Neighbours, Susan Bower said that it was only a matter of time before they gave Chris who was made a regular character earlier this year a love interest.
She said: ''To be true to the Chris character, now he is a regular in storylines, we knew at some stage he needed to meet someone. How it unfolds, all will be revealed. However, I think viewers will find the story compelling."
Viewers will see Morley's character Aiden begin to appear on screens from later this year.
