Rula Lenska has revealed that she hopes to return to her role as Claudia Colby in Coronation Street at some point in the future. The actress who recently filmed her final scenes as outspoken glamour puss Claudia says that she would definitely consider returning to the Street if she was offered the chance.
Lenska's character Claudia has featured in a love triangle with her friend and show stalwart Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) and boyfriend, cross-dressing Marc Selby (Andrew Hall) and it is expected that the character will leave in summer time paving the way for her friend to consume a relationship with Marc.
Speaking to The Mirror regarding her upcoming departure, Lenska said: ''I'm hoping they will leave the door open for my return, as I adore Coronation Street so much. I love everyone I work with. I'll be looking forward to doing more theatre when I leave but I hope to return."
Speaking about her character's disgust upon coming across her boyfriend's secret, Rula said: ''I don't think Claudia was very happy when she found out about Marc, but you'll have to wait and see what happens." She has appeared on and off as Claudia since 2009 when she was cast as a friendly rival for hairdresser Audrey.
She added: ''There's something charming about the Street - what it does with the older generation. It's fantastic that we have so many interesting and fun storylines involving people over 60. There are just so many wonderful characters, they can be mischievous and endearing and people love to watch them. That's what they do so well, and what makes it the best soap.''
Viewers will see Claudia exit Weatherfield during summer as Audrey and Mark get together as part of the ''Summer of Love'' on the ITV1 soap.
