New Neighbours actor John Wood has teased his upcoming role on C5 soap ''Neighbours''. The legendary Australian actor best known for his role as Senior Sergeant Tom Croydon in police-detective series Blue Heelers was recently announced as a new doctor Martin Chambers.
Speaking to television magazine TV Week, the actor who has recently began filming his role on the Australian soap which airs here on Channel 5 said: ''He's the head of surgery at Erinsborough Hospital. He's very focused and ambitious and doesn't suffer fools gladly - so he could be a good bloke or a villain, depending on what he thinks of you.''
The 64-year-old actor revealed that there is ''considerable conflict'' between the new Head of Surgery and his colleague, show stalwart Dr. Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher). Speaking of the challenges of his role, squeamish Wood explained: ''I don't have a great bedside manner, because I can't cope with the sight of blood or wounds. So it's just as well I'm acting it!"
The new recruit is the second medic joining the ranks at the medical establishment after we revealed last month about the casting of Ben Barber as new doctor Rhys Lawson who is also tipped to clash with argumentative, strict and fiery Martin.
