Waterloo Road casts a string of ex-Soap actors for the next series

A number of ex-Soap actors are set to join the cast of BBC1 school drama Waterloo Road. Jaye Jacobs, Paul Nicholls and John Thompson are all set to play characters in the next series of the BBC1 show.

Jacobs played the highly popular Donna Jackson in Holby City from 2004 until March of this year as Donna had an emotional departure leaving for a new life with her boyfriend Kieran Callaghan, played by ex-Hollyoaks actor Barry Sloane. She will play a new teacher.

Also joining the staff is Ex-Eastenders star Paul Nicholls who played Joe Wicks in the show.More recently, Nicholls played a character in BBC sitcom Candy Cabs. Meanwhile, John Thompson, best known for playing Pete in Cold Feet who also starred in Corrie as Jesse Chadwick, is to play a parent.

The seventh series which will last for 30 episodes, started at the beginning of May.
