Dot Branning is to be reunited with her estranged sister Rose as Polly Perkins joins the cast of BBC soap Eastenders, it has been confirmed. The Walford stalwart was seen making the hard decision to admit her husband Jim (John Bardon) to a care home as she finally struggled to cope looking after him but she won't be alone for long.
Singer and actress Polly Perkins has joined the cast of the long-running continuing drama as Rose, the sister of Dot who hasn't been in touch with her sister in years. The frostiness between the sisters started years ago after Rose had an affair with Dot's first husband Charlie.
However, on her own and after suffering from hypochondria earlier this years, Dot decides it's time to bury the hatchet with her relative and attempts to track Rose down. Rose is ''fun, flighty and not one to age gracefully'', a polar opposite to her straight-laced, religious sister.
However, despite Dot's attempt to get back on good terms with Rose, her sister is none too pleased to see her arrive on her doorstep. However, a shock could be instore as it's been hinted that there may be other reasons for Rose's displeasure at her sister's arrival.
People may know Perkins from her role as Trish Valentine in flop BBC soap Eldorado. This isn't the first time Polly and June have worked together as they both starred in the BBC drama Rules Of Justice in the 1980s.
Speaking about her new role, Polly enthused: ''I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Eastenders, the show is a real British institution with an extraordinary creative team. I'm really looking forward to working with June again, who I have been friends with for over 30 years.'' Viewers will see Dot's sister arrive in summer.
