Former Emmerdale actress Catherine Tyldesley has been cast as Eva, the daughter of soon to arrive characters Stella and Karl in Coronation Street. The actress who played prison warden Abi on the ITV soap is set to join the other soap on ITV as she takes on the role of Eva who moves to Weatherfield in June along with her mum and dad after Stella is employed by Steve Mc Donald (Simon Gregson) to run the Rovers Return following the departure of his mum Liz.
Last month, we reported that former Eastenders actress Michelle Collins and Taggart star John Michie had been cast as the couple however at that point, Eva was still yet to be cast. The actress is set to begin filming for the role later this week, Eva is reported to be a feisty independant girl. Writing the exciting news on Twitter, Tyldesley commented: ''Exited for my first day on the cobbles this Friday???Just a bit!!!''
Meanwhile, Anthony Cotton who plays barman Sean Tully also wrote about the news on Twitter saying: ''A bit of exciting news, my lovely friend @cathytyldesley is playing Eva in Coronation Street. She starts on Friday!'' Catherine played Abi Peterson last year for a few months as wrong imprisioned Ryan Lamb (James Sutton) grew close to the prison officer as he was languishing in jail. Her screen parents are also well known to viewers as Michelle played highly popular Cindy Beale in Eastenders during the 90's whilst Michie stars on detective drama Taggart. Catherine has also had a role on Lillies as Iris Moss as well as brief roles on shows such as Doctors and Holby City.
Expect drama galore as the new family strut onto the street in June with bar manager Stella keen to make her mark on the iconic pub whilst pretty blonde bombshell Eva is set to turn a few heads with her good looks and with promises of a big secret set to be revealed within the first few months, Stella, Karl and Eva will definitely be worth watching!
