Little Boy Blue concluded its series on ITV last night with over 5 million viewers.
The drama based on the real life shocking murder of 11-year-old Rhys Jones finished its four part run with an average audience of 5.8 million viewers.
It was a series high for the show, which started with 5.3 million back in April, and easily beat the competition on BBC One in the 9PM hour from new health documentary series Doctor in the House which had 2.3 million viewers.
Overall, Little Boy Blue averaged just over 5.3 million viewers across its run, with last night's episode the most watched programme of the night outside the soaps.
And as for those soaps, Coronation Street came out on top with its double bill, averaging 6.7 million and 6.5 million viewers at 7:30PM and 8:30PM respectively. Earlier on ITV, Emmerdale had 5.7 million while over on BBC One, EastEnders averaged 5.8 million for its latest episode.
Elsewhere, on BBC Two, The Day the Dinosaurs Died interested 2.3 million viewers as experts revealed new research into the asteroid impact that caused a mass extinction on earth some 66 million years ago.
