Rylan Clark-Neal's new game show Babushka ended its first week on ITV with 1.6 million viewers.
The episode matched Thursday's number and was 100,000 above Wednesday's low, but 400,000 below the 2 million who watched the first episode on Monday.
Overall, Babushka's first week averaged 1.7 million viewers in the 5PM slot, just over half the numbers of The Chase.
Babushka continues Monday-Fridays at 5PM on ITV throughout May.
Later in the evening on ITV last night, Coronation Street was the most watched programme of the night with 6.5 million and 6 million viewers for its two episodes.
Emmerdale had 5.6 million while over on BBC One, 5.7 million tuned in for EastEnders.
MasterChef continued with 4 million viewers, matched by Have I Got News For You but new comedy Hospital People continued to struggle, pulling in 1.7 million.
