Charlie G. Hawkins and Zoe Lucker to leave ''Eastenders'' later this year but Kylie Babbington staying put

EastendersEastenders is set to get a shake-up this year as Charlie G. Hawkins and Zoe Lucker make their exits. The actors who play Darren Miller and Vanessa Gold respectively are to film their final scenes on the show in the next few months before both characters make their departures seperately during summer. A source has tipped Vanessa's exit storyline to be explosive as her relationship with Max Branning (Jake Wood) becomes complicated.

However, details of Darren's exit are yet to be revealed, the character has been on the BBC soap for seven years and has seen many storylines in his time such as fathering a child with Heather Trott (Cheryl Ferguson) and his relationship with Vanessa's daughter Jodie Gold (Kylie Babbington) who will remain on the square despite the exits of her boyfriend and her mother.

Confirming the reports, a spokesperson for Eastenders told Digital Spy: ''Zoe was brought into Eastenders for a storyline playing Max's love interest and will go out with a bang. Zoe has done a fabulous job of bringing the character of Vanessa to life and the door has been left wide open for her return.''

A show insider added: ''Vanessa has proved to be a popular character and although her exit storyline will be explosive, there is every belief that she will return to the Square in the future.'' Vanessa first appeared on the show in summer last year and immediately hit it off with Max whilst paying a visit to his car lot. During her time on the show, she revealed to her ex-husband that Jodie is not his daughter.

Meanwhile, making a statement, Charlie who plays Darren Miller thanked all the team behind Eastenders and executive producer Bryan Kirkwood for his time on the show and said: ''I've enjoyed my time at Eastenders immensely, it's been a terrific chapter in my life and I've loved every minute of it. I've had tremendous support throught my duration on the show and I would like to thank Bryan and the whole team for believing in me.''

Both characters will depart during summer and judging on the kiss Max shared with ex-wife Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner) on her wedding day last month, it looks like temptation may cause a break-down in Max and Vanessa's relationship, as for Darren, the cheeky chappy looks set to lose his first true love in some way or another for him to depart the Square.
