Coronation Street plans dramatic week of episodes to air during BGT live shows

Coronation Street will air a highly dramatic week of episodes to coincide with the Britain's Got Talent live shows, it has been confirmed. The ITV soap will air a dramatic week of episodes coinciding with the ITV talent contest's week of live semi-finals in late May and early June. Whilst the drama is taking place on stage on Britain's Got Talent, the residents of Weatherfield will also be faced with their own dramas.

The episodes will centre around the downfall of confused serial killer John Stape (Graham Hawley) as well the continual breakdown of troubled Becky Mc Donald (Katherine Kelly). Speaking on BBC 1Xtra to Gemma Cairney, Kelly who recently announced her departure from the show said: ''Every day apart from Saturday the cameras are going - and moreso at the moment, because we're filming this week where it's going to be a bit racier. It's the end of May - it's the same week as Britain's Got Talent.''

The episodes will be less restricted due to their later airtime of 9pm as Katherine explained: ''We get to say words that are a bit racier! We're super busy at the moment filming that week.'' As can be expected, a spokesperson for Coronation Street was unable to comment on scheduling details as it is yet to be confirmed but insisted that the scenes will not include adult content.

They remarked: ''We're always aware that we have a family audience and the compliance procedure for each episode reflects this, regardless of the timeslot!'' On the other hand, sources for the soap told showbiz and entertainment website Digital Spy that the scenes in question would be ''very dramatic'' and would see some extremely shocking and unexpected twists to existing storylines.

They teased: ''Everyone knows there's some big twists on the way for John, as his storyline enters its final act, while Becky will be at the centre of drama for the remainder of her time in Weatherfield. This week of episodes will be significant for both characters.'' As fans of the show will remember, bosses last year were forced to quickly postpone episodes which centred around a seige in Underworld after the dramatic and tragic shootings in Cumbria, whilst bosses have planned a week of fantastic twists and turns, they plan to ensure that storylines will not be too dramatic incase of true to life incidents. Regardless of what happens, we can't wait and more John Stape is win win for us here at TellyMix!
