Emmerdale actress confirms her departure from the show after 12 months

Emmerdale actress Kirsty Leigh Porter is to leave the ITV soap after a year playing Roz Fielding, it has been announced. The actress who recently split from co-star Danny Miller who plays Aaron Livesy will leave at the end of her current contract and her character will depart our screens during summer.

Porter joined the Yorkshire-based soap last year and quickly caused controversy in the village by playing a key role in the drug addiction of villager Holly Barton who has been seen struggling to overcome the addiction.

Speaking about the decision not to renew Kirsty's contract, recently appointed producer of Emmerdale, Stuart Blackburn said: ''The character of Roz was brought into Emmerdale for the purpose of Holly's addiction storyline, which has now concluded. Kirsty will therefore sadly be leaving us at the end of her current contract. She is a huge talent and an absolute professional. The door will be left wide open for a possible return in the future.''

Kirsty, herself said: ''I am looking forward to venturing onto new opportunities. I have loved every minute and had the pleasure or working with some wonderful and talented people. I would definitely consider returning at some point in the future if I was allowed.''

As well as her role in Emmerdale, Kirsty had a brief role in Coronation Street as a girlfriend of David Platt as well as appearances in Doctors and Shameless as well as a few other programmes. Are you sad to hear of Roz's departure? Should she return in the future?
