Yet more rumours have emerged surrounding the upcoming exit of Coronation Street villain John Stape. The latest speculation is that Stape, played by Graham Hawley will fake his death in a storyline set to reflect the real-life case of ''Canoe Man'' John Darwin.
Just a few days ago, TellyMix reported that John's final story would see him hold a number of characters including wife Fiz (Jenny McAlpine) and family friend Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment). However, today, reports have emerged claiming that the confused man will fake his own death.
According to The Sun, John goes on the run after Fiz discovers him holding her brother Chesney and ex-accomplice Charlotte's parents hostage and as the man hunt begins, John hides in a tiny loft in his house reflecting the real life situation where John Darwin hid beside his house for years after pretending he had died when out on a canoe.
However, in a shocking twist, John sneaks down to check on a sleeping Fiz and Hope and to get some food when Fiz wakes up to find him holding the baby. And feeling powerless, John decides to take baby Hope with him as he runs again knocking Fiz to the floor in the process.
And after John, his life already in tatters, tries to do the right thing and goes to visit his wife, she pushes the panic alarm leading to John making a spur of the moment decision and climbing to the roof of the hospital Fiz is in, threatening to jump with Hope in his arms.
As usual, bosses at the ITV soap have refused to confirm or deny reports with their policy of not commenting on future storylines still very much in operation but with previous reports that the confused bad boy is to commit suicide, it's looking like John will be bowing out of the show with a bang and possibly a thump!
