Hollyoaks favourite to accuse fellow character of rape in gritty storyline

Jacqui Hollyoaks character Jacqui Mc Queen is to accuse fellow villager Gilly Roach in a gritty new storyline this year. The  character who has become a viewer favourite since her debut in 2006 will make the accusation after a drunken kiss with Gilly.

However, after she realises that they have had sex, Jacqui thinks she's been raped as she has no recollection of consenting to have sex with the widower. Viewers will see the dramatic story kick off next month after the duo drunkenly share a kiss whilst they face troubles in their relationships with Rhys Ashworth and Lynsey Nolan respectively.

Speaking to Soaplife, Claire Cooper who plays the lass teased: ''They're telling the same story but are looking at it from different angles. Just who to believe is a very grey area. It will split the village and the viewers.''

When asked if  Jacqui was raped by Gilly, she said: ''It's what Jacqui believes happened. She agrees she was drunk and kissed Gilly but she didn't want sex and she's convinced she was raped. She thinks she made it clear to Gilly she didn't want sex but somehow he didn't get the message.''

The plot will continue when Jacqui reports him to the police and Gilly is arrested on suspicion of rape with Gilly protesting his innocence leaving Gilly's friend and Jacqui's boyfriend Rhys in a difficult decision.

However even Claire doesn't know the outcome as she revealed: ''We don't know what happened that night. We've just been told that our characters each think they're telling the truth. [Anthony] (Quinlan who plays Gilly) and I have talked about it a lot. I even read his scripts to try to work it out. The outcome will be a surprise for both of us.

So with this storyline and serial killer Silas still on the loose, Hollyoaks is sure to be exciting viewing for all fans of the show. Will you be watching this story and who do you think will be telling the truth?
