Former Busted singer Matt Willis is set to join the cast of Eastenders as Stacey Slater's boyfriend Luke. The actor and singer best known for being part of the three-piece boyband, who is set to tour alongside Mc Fly as McBusted will arrive on screen alongside Stacey in the new year.

Luke will join Albert Square for a short stint with Willis filming his first scenes this week. His character is dubbed as a hard working young man who is determined to secure a bright future for himself and his family and is deeply in love with returning character Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).

While things seem to be going well for Stacey romantically, it soon becomes clear that she hasn't been entirely honest with her boyfriend which is set to lead to trouble for both Stacey and her other half.

Speaking about his new role, Willis commented: ''I am so thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show. I grew up watching EastEnders so this is really exciting for me!"

Eastenders executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: ''I've always loved Matt and it will be a real treat for viewers to watch him and Lacey together on screen as part of her return to the Square. Luke gives as good as he gets, so is a great foil to Stacey. Pity she's been lying to him since the day she met him…"

The news follows the recent announcement that Lacey Turner is reprising her role as Stacey Slater who was last seen fleeing the square three years ago with baby Lily.
