Jamie Lomas, best known for the role of villainous Warren Fox in C4 soap Hollyoaks is set to join the cast of rival soap Eastenders, it has been announced. Lomas has landed the part of newcomer Jake Stone and will begin filming his scenes later this month.

Jake turns up in Albert Square following a fit of bad luck but hopes that the move will signal a change in fortune. As a recovering alcoholic, his fundamental weakness is avoiding temptation but he is set to win over some of the local residents with show sources labelling him as ''sexy and seductive''.

As he settles into Walford, he keeps himself to himself not wanting his secrets to be revealed. However, with his good looks and charm managing to gain him popularity in the square, it remains to be seen what's on the cards for the local.

Lomas commented on his new role saying: ''I'm over the moon to be joining the cast of Eastenders. I have admired the show for many years and I can't wait to start working with such a strong cast of actors. Jake Stone is a great character to play and I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into the role."

Meanwhile,  Lorraine Newman, executive producer for Eastenders said: ''We're delighted to welcome Jamie to the world of Walford. I have no doubt he'll make a big impact on screen as Jake Stone. The show's about to enter a really exciting period which Jamie will be a huge part of, with a great storyline allowing him to truly shine."

Jamie's first scenes will air in August.
