Just twelve acts will make it through to The X Factor 2012 live shows, judge Gary Barlow has revealed.
2010 and 2011's series saw the number of acts in the finals boosted to 16, with four in each category.
However the extra acts meant more eliminations, with four singers being cut in the first week last year.
And double eliminations in the past two series have also seem some shock results.
This year it seems that the show is going back to twelve acts, with six in each category making it through to the judges' houses where just three will be chosen.
Gary made his decisions yesterday, tweeting: "Back at judges houses, it's time for 3 yes's and 3 no's ! I hate this bit"
Gary was helped out at his judges' houses with former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole.
He added: "Thank you @CherylCole for all your help this weekend. The contestants and I loved having you there xx"
Nicole Scherzinger teamed up Ne-Yo in Dubai for her judges' houses, while [tag]Louis Walsh[/tag] previously joined forces with Sharon Osbourne in Las Vegas.
More recently, [tag]Tulisa Contostavlos[/tag] visited St Lucia with UK star Tinie Tempah to decide which acts in her category will make it through.
The X Factor continues next Saturday night on ITV1. The judges' houses section will air later this month.
