Simon Cowell has spoken out about claims made in an unauthorised biography for the first time today.
Claims made about Simon in the book, written by former BBC hack Tom Bower, include him sleeping with X Factor's Dannii Minogue, wanting an affair with Cheryl Cole, hoping to sack Gary Barlow and bullying X Factor contestants.
In his first interview this week, Simon insisted: “It’s not my habit to kiss and tell. I’ve never done it. I’ve always tried to keep my private life private, and it so unfortunate. [sic]"
“So I was feeling very embarrassed and not gentlemanly at all this week because it’s just not my style."
But Simon added: “At the same time, the guy’s got the right to write the book he wants, but it has been uncomfortable, to be honest with you.”
According to the Daily Mirror, Simon is "hardly sleeping" over the revelations made in the book, which continue to cover the front pages of the newspapers.
“Simon doesn’t recognise the person that has been portrayed this week. It’s simply not him," says a pal. "He is feeling very low about this. He views it as one of the worst weeks of his entire life and he is hardly sleeping.”
The supposed friend continued: “Simon is shocked that some people close to him have disclosed things which have caused him embarrassment.
“He knew the author was approaching people but had no idea how indiscreet some friends would be.
“It’s true he is a workaholic and is demanding at times but it’s always because he wants to make things better. He rarely gets angry or treats staff badly, as some people in his position do when they want to improve things.
“He looks at a show and wants to make it better. No wonder he gets obsessive about getting things right.
"Obviously, Simon would never, ever want anyone to be upset by this whole episode but when someone writes an unauthorised biography, there is very little one can do.”
