X Factor stars One Direction are set to headline the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 3, 2012, with tickets on sale this Friday.
One Direction’s May/June 2012 tour of North America sold out within minutes of going on sale and the group wanted to give their new batch of American fans a further opportunity to see them play live before ending what will have been a monumental year.
"We are so happy to be playing Madison Square Garden. To be headlining our OWN show in a venue that has played host to countless legendary acts that we have grown up listening to and adore is obviously a dream come true for us all," the group's Niall Horan said.
He added: "We can't wait to play for our fans on December 3rd."
One Direction rose to fame in 2010 after appearing on The X Factor UK. Their global smash debut album, Up All Night, entered the charts at #1 in 13 countries and has been certified triple platinum in Ireland, double platinum in the UK & Australia, and platinum in New Zealand.
One Direction made history as their debut album Up All Night entered the US Billboard 200 chart at #1 with over 176,000 copies sold making them the first British group ever to debut at #1 in the US with their debut album release. Their debut single “What Makes You Beautiful” has recently been certified GOLD for sales in excess of 500,000.
The group also have tours planned this year in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, and will return to the UK in January 2013 for their first UK Arena tour.
