Former X Factor 2011 finalist James Michael has auditioned for The X Factor 2012, it has been revealed.
The teenage singer made the live shows last year, but was booted out in a first week twist that saw no public vote, with the judges instead told to axe one act in their group.
James told his 47,000 Twitter followers this weekend that he was trying out again as auditions hit Scotland, and had made it through the first round.
He wrote online: "I'm auditioning for the x factor again! Here today let you all know how it goes :)"
Auditioning with a pal, James later added: "Just got through to the x factor whoooo well done @mattsmithlpool on getting through to!"
James made it all the way to the final sixteen last year in Gary Barlow's group of boys, but was kicked out over Frankie Cocozza, Marcus Collins and Craig Colton before the public had a say.
While those acts that make the live shows are usually not allowed to try again, it's unclear whether or not this would apply to James who never faced the public vote.
Amelia Lily, Jonjo Kerr and 2 Shoes all shared the same fate as James last year but have all gone to have vastly different outcomes.
While James was auditioning again, soldier Jonjo Kerr has been on duty in Afghanistan while 2 Shoes have been promoting the London Olympics.
Amelia meanwhile has been playing to 28,000 fans at the O2 Arena after being voted back into the show last November.
The X Factor 2012 auditions continue Saturday in London.
