The 47-year-old Glam gran joined Sir Tom Jones' team on last night's latest blind audition episode, impressing with a cover of Wild Horses.
But it's not her first attempt at stardom, having made it to bootcamp on The X Factor in 2007.
Speaking to The Sun however, Barbara said she was axed because she wasn't "gimmicky".
She added: "It was mostly gimmicky singers that got in there. Older singers were never taken seriously. The Voice definitely respects you more."
Meanwhile the Scottish singer said she was "overwhelmed" to be picked by Sir Tom Jones for his team.
"I think we are quite similar in some ways. We became parents when we were quite young, we worked hard," she told the newspaper. "OK he is a massive, massive superstar. But I think he has applied a lot of the same principles that I have throughout my years — work hard and be professional.
"I've always been a fan of Tom Jones. I'm starstruck. He's absolutely brilliant — what a voice he has. And yes, I do have a crush on him."
