X Factor host Dermot O'Leary has said he's not worried about competition from The Voice UK, insisting: We're the biggest show in the country!

Speaking at auditions in Wales yesterday, Dermot did however reveal he has been watching the new BBC one series, which started on Saturday night.

He said: "I enjoyed The Voice and it’s a good show, but we’re the biggest show in the country and we never take that for granted.”

This year's X Factor auditions are set to see a few changes, with acts being encouraged to perform their own music and being allowed to try out even if they already have a management deal.

Thousands turned up to the X Factor 2012 Wales auditions yesterday, and Dermot explained he was hoping for a "serious contender" from the country.

"I think a Welsh finalist would be nice and someone that the country could really get behind," the hunky host commented.

"We always tend to get really colourful characters from Wales, but this year it would be nice for this to be a year with a serious contender – fingers crossed.”
