Leigh-Anne, who dumped her long-term boyfriend earlier this year to focus on her music, was photographed getting comfortable with Ashford earlier this month.
Both The Risk and Little Mix are currently on a tour of the UK and Ireland with the X Factor Live Concert, and it seems that the downtime between shows has led to some of the finalists growing close.
Speaking before the tour last month, Ashford admitted he had a crush on the star and teased he would make a move when on the road!
"Leigh-Anne Pinnock is really beautiful and I chat to her a lot. We were in the same challenge at boot camp, so I spent time with her there," he said.
And the 20-year-old hinted: “She’s single, I’m single, who knows? Maybe one day, but at the moment we’ve both got tasks in hand, so we’ll just stay friends.
“We’ll see what happens on tour…”
But the news is sure to be a blow to her ex-boyfriend, who Leigh-Anne dumped just weeks before because she was "too busy" with Little Mix.
In an interview with The Sun, Leigh-Anne’s ex even claimed he suspected her of getting with The Risk while the show was on the air last year.
“I suspected that something may have been going on with someone out of One Direction or The Risk. But I don’t know if it happened. She’d never tell me,” he told the newspaper.
A pal of Little Mix singer Jade revealed how Leigh Anne and Asford were "always flirting" backstage on the show last year, and added that there was definite "chemistry" between the pair.
A spokesperson for The X Factor had no comment.
It wouldn't be the first time that a romance between finalists has blossomed on tour, after last year's live shows saw One Direction Zayn Malik and Rebecca Ferguson make a surprise hook up.
It didn't last however with the pair splitting up just a month after the concert finished.
The X Factor 2012 live tour continues this week in Sheffield, London and concludes in Cardiff in April.
