One Direction star Harry Styles has been left "insulted" by tabloid and magazine reports suggesting that he had been separating himself from the band.
It was reported last week that One Direction management and Harry's band mates had told him to start acting more like a team player.
But a source close to the teenager hit back at the suggestions that his ego had become out of control.
"Harry is quite insulted by those reports," the insider tells Star magazine. "He says he is in no way big-headed and that his ego is not getting out of control.
"He is still very much one of the boys, and considers them to be a team above all."
The group are currently enjoying huge success across the world, with a historic number one US album, and sell out tours in the UK, Ireland and Australia.
The source went on: "He was upset that people were trying to cause tension between him and the guys and he certainly doesn’t see him as the focus of the band. They’ve got a huge fanbase and each member is a star in their own right.
"Together they make the total package. Harry sis no fool, and he'd never dream of jeopardizing his place in the band.”
