X Factor stars One Direction are on course to be first UK band ever to debut at number one on the US album charts.
The boys release their first record Up All Night in the country this week, and its currently on course to shift an impressive 160,000--180,000 units in its opening seven days on sale.
It'd be a historic number one for the reality telly stars, following their successful debut on the US single charts with What Makes You Beautiful last month. The track was the highest charting debut by a UK group since 1998, and has gone on sell over 338,000 copies already.
The group are still in the country on a huge promo tour, which has already seem them supporting Big Time Rush on tour and performing on highly-rated US breakfast series The Today Show.
One Direction will continue their promotional blitz over the next month, with appearances lined up on both Saturday Night Live and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards ceremony, hosted by Will Smith.
And in a rather special twist, One Direction are competing with fellow Brit Adele for the US top spot, with the singer's record 21 STILL selling close to 150,000 copies a week.
Fellow British boy band The Wanted are also doing well in the country, with their debut track Glad You Came currently in the top 5 of the singles chart thanks to a cover on FOX series Glee.
