One Direction set for Saturday Night Live, Today Show performances

One Direction tour

X Factor stars One Direction have landed performances on two of America's top rated shows, with the boys set to sing on Saturday Night Live and the Today Show in the next month.

It's the latest in a string of gigs for the group, who are touring the US and Canada in preparation for the release of their debut album Up All Night in the countries later this week.

Their first single to chart, What Makes You Beautiful, marked the best debut by any British newcomer on US soil in almost 15 years, and it was the latest hit for a group in the States since the Spice Girls in the 1990's.

One Direction, who finished in third place on The X Factor in 2010, will appear on SNL on April 7, alongside Modern Family star Sofia Vergara.

The appearances coincide with their debut US tour in support of boy band Big Time Rush as well as an airing for their guest slot on Nickelodeon teen sitcom iCarly.
