X Factor 2012 producers are reportedly worried that auditions so far have failed to turn up enough talent.
The Daily Star reports that bosses have sent out members of the production team to search for singers to audition, including handing out flyers to passersby.
“X Factor success depends on how much talent there is at the auditions," one insider told the newspaper today.
“No amount of editing or rows between the judges can make a series watchable if most of the acts are boring or can’t sing.”
Auditions for the upcoming series have so far visited Newcastle and Liverpool, and will move to Manchester, London, Glasgow and Cardiff over the coming weeks.
But with numbers of auditionees apparently in decline - although still well into their thousands - producers have been forced to go out on the hunt for talent.
The insider added: “They’ve done it on a small scale in the past but there is much more of it this year.”
