Olly Murs may QUIT The Xtra Factor in order to tour alongside One Direction in the States, it has been claimed today.
Olly, who is currently taking part in his own headlining UK Arena tour, recently dismissed reports suggesting he would definitely be coming back to host the ITV2 spin-off later this year.
He insisted: "X Factor don’t confirm anything until much nearer the time.
“There are no dates confirmed, nothing.”
Now The Sun report that Olly may snub a second series of the X Factor's sister show in order to try and crack the US market, with a little help from his One Direction friends!
"Olly wants to crack America — and who can blame him for that?" the usual source says. "The One Direction lads are going down a storm over there so their management are looking at getting them back out there as soon as possible after their current tour finishes on Friday.
"Olly's team are still working on a US launch date for his album, In Case You Didn't Know. The ideal time would coincide with a tour."
But the newspaper claims that TV producers want Olly back hosting the Xtra Factor, one of ITV2's most popular shows, alongside Caroline Flack.
"It's quite a crucial show nowadays and can get up to three million people watching, so producers really want him to do it," the source added.
A spokesman for the singer, who finished as runner up on The X Factor back in 2009, revealed that talks were still ongoing.
"Olly's album is now starting to break big internationally and this means we have to juggle all his commitments between promoting his own album and also doing the show," they explained. "We are confident that talks will continue to be productive from both sides."
Open auditions for The X Factor 2012 continue this weekend in Newcastle.
