X Factor winners Little Mix have called on stars from the North to try out for this year's series when auditions hit Newcastle at the weekend.
Geordie stars Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards said they wanted local singers to prove that show bosses have made the right decision to visit the city.
TellyMix revealed last month that try outs would be taking place in Newcastle this year, with Birmingham axed from the audition tour.
Newcastle was originally visited as part of Britain’s Got Talent in 2010, but cut the next year after Simon Cowell was left unimpressed by the talent on display.
But with three of X Factor's winners originating from the region - including 2009 champ Joe McElderry - producers are set to return to the city.
Perrie said: “We were just normal girls from South Shields before The X Factor, and now our lives have been changed forever. But like every X Factor winner, our experience started at the auditions.”
Her bandmate Jade added: “They are the first step on the road to the X Factor final and I’m sure there are plenty of Geordies young and old who stand a great chance in the competition.”
The X Factor's exec producer Beth Hart told the Chronicle: “We’re so delighted that The X Factor is coming to Newcastle for auditions, we’ve missed it whilst we’ve been away.
“Last year, two of Tulisa’s Little Mix girls Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards won the show so we can’t wait to see what other talent the North East has to offer.”
