X Factor runner up Marcus Collins today released his solo single, a year to the day that he first auditioned for the show.

As try outs for the new series continue in Liverpool today, Marcus has his first song quickly climbing the charts.

The track, a cover of White Stripes' Seven Nation Army, is currently well on its way into the Top 10 at the time of writing.

The singer is currently promoting the song in-between The X Factor live tour, with two performances at London's Wembley Arena today alone.

Marcus said: “It has been very long days and you have to put very long hours in to get the best results and prove yourself as an artist.

“But it is something I always wanted to do, so for it to becoming a reality is a dream come true."

He added: “It has been a whirlwind, the best 12 months of my life. The best bit was performing with Gary Barlow at the Royal Albert Hall in front of the Royal Family and working with Gary in the studio.”

Marcus' self-titled debut album follows next week on Monday March 12.
