One Direction star Zayn Malik has left the group's US tour after learning of the death of his aunt.
Zayn was made aware of the sad news yesterday, and flew back to the UK today to be with his family in Bradford.
Writing on Twitter, band mate Harry Styles commented: "Zayn has suffered a loss in his family & has had to go home for a few days so won't be at our next shows in the US.
"Our thoughts are with him and his family at this sad time."
One Direction fans quickly managed to trend the words #staystrongzayn, filling the social networking website with comments of support for the 19-year-old.
Zayn retweeted one, reading: "God has no Phone, but I talk to him. He has no Facebook, but he is still my friend. He does not have a twitter, but I still follow him."
The group are currently playing venues across the USA and Canada in the build up to the release of their debut album Up All Night later this month.
Their first single, What Makes You Beautiful, debuted on the charts last week at 26, making the boys the most successful new British group in the States for nearly 15 years.
