X Factor stars One Direction have become the most popular new UK act in the States since 1997, with their debut single What Makes You Beautiful selling over 100,000 copies in its first week alone.
It's the highest debut on the American Billboard singles chart by a UK artist since 1998, and the highest by a group since the Spice Girls back in 1997.
One Direction played 28 in the charts, which unlike in the UK also take into account airplay, having sold 132,000 singles in the first seven days of release.
The song won the band a BRIT award for Best British Single earlier in the week, and has gone on to enter charts around the world, including Australia and Italy.
Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson will be jetting out to the States this week to start a promo and radio tour to help boost the single and promote their album, Up All Night.
But there's tough competition from fellow UK group The Wanted, who saw their track rise to 25 in the charts after it was performed on Glee.
