X Factor boss Simon Cowell has decided to "almost certainly" axe Kelly Rowland from The X Factor UK this year, it has been reported.
According to the Daily Mail, Simon is now on the lookout for a new female star to replace the US singer this summer.
Insiders claim that the former Destiny's Child songstress 'failed to connect' with viewers when she joined the series last year.
"Kelly has got to go. She was not right for the show," a rather harsh source says.
They continued: "The producers didn’t like her and her commitment level wasn’t there. There’s an understanding she didn’t work on the panel."
Sources at ITV have claimed that Simon is still hoping to persuade Cheryl Cole to return.
A spokeswoman for The X Factor insisted last night: "The panel will be decided by ITV, the producers and Simon together — absolutely no decisions have been made yet."
Auditions for The X Factor 2012 kick off next month, with the show back on TV screens in August.
