Dancing On Ice's Chico says X Factor hopefuls need to stop being "too serious"

Dancing On Ice star Chico has said that X Factor contestants need to take themselves less seriously on the show.

The cheesy singer, who appeared on the second series of the show in 200 told The Sun that the singers "forget to be real".

He said: "People take themselves too seriously and forget to be real.

"If opportunity presents itself on The X Factor, there's a timescale in which you can do it, because next year you have got another lot and nobody remembers."

After finishing fifth on the show, Chico went on score a number one with his song Chico Time, and insisted he had no regrets.

"I look at X Factor as a window of opportunity and a platform. I took that ball and ran with it," he explained.

"You have to make hay while the sun shines. I did well out of it. I would never want to forget Chico Time. You can get delirious if you take life too seriously. "
