BBC bosses are spending a whopping £22 million to launch The Voice UK later this year, it has been claimed.
The Daily Mirror report that Beeb bosses are putting up the cash in a bid to upstage The X Factor, and have already signed a two-year deal.
The new format is based on the original Voice of Holland, which has also been a success in the States and Ireland.
“There is an awful lot of pressure, given the money spent on the format, for the ratings to be good," a source told the tabloid.
“But at the moment all signs are that it will be cash well spent.”
However despite its rivalry with The X Factor, the show will actually being going head to head with Britain's Got Talent when it hits screens this Spring.
The Voice UK is expected to launch on Saturday nights in March.
