13-year-old Rachel Crow wowed the judges on last night's opening X Factor USA episode, but we can't help but feel the talented teenager is far too young to cope with the pressures of such a show. With tough competition from Idol, Simon Cowell went all out to make The X Factor USA a different show.
With contestants as young as 12 auditioning on the new series, it makes for a somewhat uncomfortable feeling, having seen what the finalists have had to put up with over here.
While there is no doubting young Rachel's talent - and her brilliantly cheeky personality - dealing with the press attention and millions of viewers the show brings could be difficult.
Here in the UK, the age limit has only ever been as low as 14, and that change only lasted for two year due to uproar about the younger finalists.
The other ‘problem’ that such young hopefuls bring to the show is a lack of realism and honesty with the judges' comments. Fortunately in Rachel's case, there was no need to be mean, but can we really see some of the brutal comments The X Factor has become known for being levelled at singers as young as 12?
How would you tell such a young wannabe they were never going to make it? It'd be hard to watch viewing.

The X Factor USA airs tonight from 8PM on ITV2.
