Hollyoaks star in talks to return for ITV show's special champions edition

Ray Quinn and Leona Lewis

Ray Quinn could be about to compete against Leona Lewis on The X Factor once more - as he's in talks for its All Stars series.

One of the ITV talent contest's most famous moments occurred in 2006, when Leona and Ray went head-to-head as the final two acts of series three.

Leona eventually clinched victory after recieving 60% of the eight million votes cast by viewers.

Now they will reportedly face off again on an All Stars edition, which show boss Simon Cowell is currently planning.

The special series will see several X Factor fan favourites from past years battle to emerge as the champion of champions.

According to The Sun, Ray is now in talks to take part after Leona signed up for a comeback.

"Show bosses are in talks with Ray and are hopeful he will sign on the dotted line," a source said.

"He's really keen to be involved, especially with Leona Lewis in the mix. It will be amazing to bring their big voices back to the X Factor stage."

X Factor stalwart Louis Walsh - who is returning to the judging panel - recently teased Leona's involvement.

The Irish music mogul also claimed that fellow winners Alexandra Burke and Shayne Ward will be participating.

Leona became one of The X Factor's biggest success stories. Her debut album 'Spirit' and first proper single 'Bleeding Love' topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.

She has scored a further nine top 10 singles and four top 20 albums in the UK.

Runner-up Ray also released a number one album, before carving out a successful career in theatre.

He is a two-time winner of Dancing On Ice, and last year joined the cast of Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

All Stars is one of two X Factor spin-offs that will air in the coming months after Simon postponed the next regular series.

The other is a Celebrity edition, which recently began filming in Los Angeles.
