The Christmas Number 1 song of 2018 has been revealed and it's not X Factor winner Dalton Andre Harris.

Dalton won The X Factor 2018 earlier this month, beating Scarlett Lee and Anthony Russell in the final showdown.

He subsequently released his winner's song, a cover of The Power Of Love featuring former X Factor winner James Arthur, for download and stream.

The latest champion made his debut at Number 4 in the charts but dropped down to Number 43 this week in the Christmas No. 1 chart.

Instead, the Official Christmas Number 1 2018 this week went to vlogger LadBaby and his novelty song We Built This City.

The song is a cover of Starship’s 1985 hit but with the lyrics 'rock and roll' replaced by 'sausage rolls'. Profits from the single are going to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.

LadBaby told Officialcharts.com: “Thank you everybody in the UK who has got a sausage roll to the top. I can’t thank you enough not only for downloading the song but for raising money for such an incredible charity.

"I’m honestly speechless and lost for words. Thank you so much. YES MAAATE!”

Official Charts chief executive Martin Talbot added: “It is a truly fantastic achievement by LadBaby to claim the 2018 Official Christmas Number 1, in what has been an incredibly competitive race against two massive hits of the moment.

"In doing so, he has also shown once again the enduring power of campaign singles, especially at this time of year. The success is tribute to the huge effort put into the campaign by Ladbaby himself, plus all of his supporters - and, in raising money for the Trussell Trust, is very much in the spirit of Christmas.”

The song sold 75,000 copies in the last week across downloads, audio and video streams.

The Official Charts Company say it's first novelty song to claim the festive top spot in 18 years, since Bob The Builder’s Can We Fix It? in 2000.

Meanwhile, it's now been four years since the last X Factor Christmas Number 1 when Ben Haenow had the festive char topper in 2014.
