The latest winner of the series couldn’t quite beat Ariana Grande, who topped this week’s official top 40.

The weekend saw Dalton win The X Factor 2018 having competed in the final with Anthony Russell and Scarlett Lee.

Dalton was crowned the winner while Scarlett finished in second place and Anthony was in third.

The Power Of Love is Dalton’s winner’s duet, featuring former X Factor winner James Arthur.

After he was announced the winner, Dalton gave a live performance of the track before its immediate release online to download and stream.

Like other recent X Factor winners, Dalton was always at a bit of a disadvantage in the race for Number one due to the shift in chart week.

The moving of the charts in 2015 from Sunday to Friday means that X Factor winners lose three days worth of sales when their single is released on Sunday night.

Dalton’s fourth place debut is down on 2017 winners Rak-Su, who made it to Number 2, and Matt Terry’s Number 3 in 2016, but up on Louisa Johnson who finished at Number 9 in 2015.

The record sold a total of 35,000 copies in five days based on combined downloads and streams. Last year’s winners Rak-Su sold 45,000 copies in the same period.

As in past years, all UK record company profits from the X Factor winner’s single will be donated to children’s hospice charities, Together for Short Lives and Shooting Star Chase.

It’s The X Factor UK’s 11th charity release. Simco Limited will donate 100% of its profits from the sale of each download and in respect of all audio streaming of the single, and the Chancellor has also agreed to donate the VAT, in each case to be shared equally by both charities.

The X Factor will be back next year on ITV.
