The new X Factor judges for Series 15 have now been officially confirmed.

ITV confirmed last month (June) that alongside Simon Cowell, three new judges will join this year’s series while Sharon Osbourne will act as a fifth judge for the live shows.

Both Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh have quit the series, the channel confirmed.

Show bosses have described the change as ‘the start of a new era’ for the show, which will air its 15th series this year.

“This new panel is all about optimism, everyone has a real passion for finding a new star. The three new judges bring a whole new energy and I’m excited,” Simon said.

Robbie quipped he had been given ‘millions of reasons’ to sign up.

He said: “For nearly 30 years I’ve been touring. I’ve been wanting to branch out and The X Factor felt like the perfect vehicle. Ayda is my rock, she’s looked after me through thick and thin. I’m looking forward to getting started as a judge!”

Ayda added: “On a professional level I’ve auditioned for years so I know the highs and lows. I know what it takes to help people achieve their dreams. It’s all about the auditionees, it’s an organic process. The fact I get to work with Rob and against him is fantastic!”

And 1D star Louis said: “The X Factor for me made a lot of sense. Development of artists is something I’ve been interested in for a long time. Having been on the show myself I know first-hand that the live shows are like nothing else you would experience. I’m looking forward to guiding auditonees through the process.”

Meanwhile, it’s not just the judges’ line up that could see some changes.

Yet another shake up to the show may see the live shows go back to being Saturdays only.

It would be the first time since series 5 in 2008 – that Alexandra Burke won – that X Factor airs on Saturdays alone.

A further change being mooted, according to the Daily Mirror, is saying goodbye to bootcamp.

Instead, acts would go straight from the auditions to the six chair challenge.

A source explained of the proposals: “One idea being looked at is whether getting rid of the Sunday show would allow ITV to put all its focus and resources into making Saturday night’s X Factor even more spectacular.

“Nothing has been decided but there are lots of ideas being thrown around.”

A spokesperson for The X Factor said: “No decisions have been made about the new series.”
