After releasing his debut album Trouble last year, Matt is now after some acting roles.

The 2016 winner, who signed to RCA Records, is hoping to follow in the footsteps of One Direction’s Harry Styles.

“I’ve decided I’d like to act. I feel like something for TV or theatre would be good or even a film. I’m open to that side of the industry now. I think it would be really fun. That’s the next step for me,” said Matt. “I studied drama at college and it was always my forte along with singing.

“It’s something I’m really interested in. So I’m hoping it will happen at the right time.”

In an interview with the Daily Star newspaper, Matt revealed he already received some offers.

He said: “One project was for theatre and a couple of them were for TV. I don’t have time for them yet. But it’s exciting. I want to do something this year.

“It’s not something people will expect from me. I’ll always be known as an X Factor winner.

“But then anything is possible – look at Harry Styles. He went into acting and now he’s massive. Whatever you put your mind to is possible.”

Acting isn’t the only future Matt has in his sights.

Last year he told star magazine he’d love to take part in a talent competition as a judge.

However The X Factor wasn’t top of his list.

“Reality isn’t my thing,” said Matt, ruling out appearing in shows like Big Brother “I’d love to be a judge on The Voice, though.

“It would be good to experience it from the other side.”
