In a new interview, 2016 champ Matt said he wanted to join rival show The Voice UK as a coach.

Chatting to Star magazine about taking on more reality shows like Big Brother or I’m A Celebrity, Matt said: “Reality isn’t my thing. I’d love to be a judge on The Voice, though.

“It would be good to experience it from the other side.”

Matt’s comments come as his fellow X Factor alumni Olly Murs signs up for the new ITV series.

Olly will replace Gavin Rossdale on the line up alongside Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson and Sir Tom Jones.

As for Matt, he’s still got a lot to prove in the music industry.

Right now the relative newbie has just put out his debut solo single Sucker For You.

He explained: “I wrote it in Sweden and I think it’s about something that everyone can relate to. We’ve all been in that situation where we’ve liked somebody who hasn’t really liked us back.”

Meanwhile, Matt revealed he was still in regular contact with his X Factor mentor Nicole Scherzinger, who this year is mentoring the Overs category.

Matt explained: “She loves my new song and sends me videos of her dancing to it. We speak every week. Nicole has been there through thick and thin. She’s like family.”

Sucker For You is out now and is Matt’s first solo release since winning the show last year, having previously collaborated with Enrique Iglesias on Top 10 hit Turn Up The Radio earlier in 2017.
