Nicole Scherzinger has revealed she may quit The X Factor next year.

The Pusscycat Doll singer has been on the show for a total of four series to date, joining the panel for the latest time last year.

However a return in 2018 may not be on the cards.

“I haven’t signed yet, I’m just trying to get through this year. If I didn’t come back, it’s because I’m a singer first,” Nicole told The Sun newspaper. “I’m sitting there telling people what they should be doing when I should be doing it.

“I still have a lot of things I want to achieve, musically.”

And in an interview with the Daily Mirror, Nicole added: “I’m telling all these people on the show what they should be doing when I should be doing it myself. I really care and it’s always a huge decision for me whether I come back or not because I know it’s 100 per cent or nothing.

“As an artist I have to think about the next moves that I make and the kind of music and the kind of vision I want to create.

“Adele took some time to do that, Ed took some time to do that. I think every artist needs that, to reflect.”

Meanwhile, The Sun reports that Nicole could end up reuniting with her former band The Pussycat Dolls.

The US group is supposedly in talks to hold a reunion tour next year.

“The girls feel the time is right to let bygones be bygones and put any differences they had behind them and celebrate the great songs they made,” a source said. “As well as their old tunes, they are hoping to treat fans with new music, too.”

If Nicole does depart, X Factor may already have a replacement lined up in the form of Alesha Dixon.

The current Britain’s Got Talent judge and former Strictly Come Dancing panellist stepped in for Nicole Scherzinger at auditions in Manchester on this year’s show and proved a hit with viewers.

However Alesha reckons it would be “greedy” for her to move shows once more.

“I had an amazing time. Simon and I have got such good banter and we had a right laugh,” Alesha said of making her guest appearance. “I thought it was going to be boring watching singer and singer because we have so much variety on BGT, but I really enjoyed it.”

Speaking to star magazine about making a full time switch, Alesha said: “Amanda wouldn’t let me go anywhere! I’m very happy where I am and honoured that The X Factor asked me me but it would be greedy of me to want to do them all, wouldn’t it?

“I’ve done the triple now – Strictly, BGT and The X Factor. Do they give medals out for that?!”

For now, The X Factor 2017 continues Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV.
