22-year-old musician Deanna flew 4,000 miles to sing from the judges, originally coming from the island of Anguilla, a British colony in the Caribbean.
"It was long but I made it and I'm grateful for being here," said Deanna.
She told cameras: "When I decided to do X Factor, my whole family has been supportive but my mum and step dad and dad couldn't make it. It was a bit too much to come back up here."
Deanna revealed that fellow islanders helped fund her trip to the UK to pursue her dreams.
"Today is a very big deal not just for me but also the 14,000 people back home who are watching, texting me, I do want to put Anguilla on the map," she said.
For her audition, Deanna chose to sing Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing.
"It means everything to me. Back home I have a lot of family and I'm nothing without them," she said of the song choice.
"Wow, you really want this, don't you? That was a good audition." reacted Simon Cowell after the performance.
But he added: "Do I think it's the right material going forward? No. The question now is where you go and where's your lane?"
Meanwhile, Nicole Scherzinger commented: "You took those balls and you bounced them off the walls."
With four yeses, Deanna sailed through to the next round.
Other acts who had taken quite the journey to audition tonight included Elysa who travelled all the way from Sydney. The Aussie performed Fleur East's Sax after just arriving in the UK.
There's also boyband trio JBK from the Philippines, who are hoping to follow in the footsteps of 2015 girl group 4th Impact.
The X Factor 2017 airs Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV.
